    Amy Collado is a born & raised Brooklynite who has dedicated the past 8 years to tenant rights advocacy as a NYC community organizer and over 10 years as a multidisciplinary artist & small business owner.

    Amy’s social impact began after leaving her work as an events manager at Damien Hirst's Other Criteria Art Gallery in Soho New York in 2015. She served two terms as an AmeriCorps volunteer alum via Public Allies New York. From 2016-2023 she served as tenant organizer & interpreter at Catholic Migration Services's Immigrant Tenants Assistance Project. During those years Amy worked closely with vulnerable Queens tenants to mobilize and support various campaigns such as Right To Counsel NYC, Housing Justice for All, Rent Justice Coalition and much more. She's helped form tenant associations in Elmhurst, Long Island City & Jackson Heights, and has supported them to improve the quality of life at their buildings through successful rent reduction orders. rent strikes, and more.

    In 2022, Amy was commissioned by the Center for Cultural Power to create an experimental short film on the subject of 'Care Economics' where she centers the struggles of immigration tenants through the juxaposition of 1970s "Operation Move-in" and 2020's "Cancel Rent aka Operation Stay.

    As a 1st generation immigrant & life-long tenant herself, Amy is passionate about housing justice for all and believes that Housing is a Human Right. She hopes to continue to make a positive impact on the housing crisis along side the housing rights movement. She believes that Art has always propelled the movement forward, and is committed to continue using her creative skills and leadership towards empowering more New York tenants for years to come.

    Amy joined the BHIP team as lead organizer in January 2024. She currently lives in Ridgewood, Queens.

    Outside of work, Rossy has been deeply involved in community initiatives like the Melissa Riggio Higher Education Program, Partnerships for Parks, Year Up, and Let's Get Ready. Their friendly and collaborative nature and expertise in data analysis and project management make them a valuable asset in community organizing efforts.
